Napkin 3D is a powerful and intuitive design tool built in Unreal Engine that allows users to create, visualize, and iterate spatial layouts in a fully interactive 3D environment.
Whether you're planning events, construction sites, traffic flow, or public spaces, Napkin 3D provides the tools to bring your ideas to life quickly and accurately. With a drag-and-drop workflow, categorized object library, multiple viewing modes, and a robust layout saving system, users can build and explore designs in real-time with ease.
Designed for both professionals and collaborators, Napkin 3D bridges the gap between planning and presentation—offering a modern, visual approach to layout design that’s fast, flexible, and client-friendly.
Free View
This mode allows users to navigate freely around the scene, similar to a traditional 3D modeling environment. It’s ideal for inspecting objects from any angle and for quickly jumping between different areas of the layout.
Walkthrough
Simulates a first-person perspective at an average human height, enabling users to "walk" through the environment. This mode is perfect for experiencing the design from a ground-level point of view, providing a realistic sense of scale and spatial flow—ideal for event layouts, architectural walkthroughs, and traffic simulations.
Ortho View
Provides an orthographic, top-down perspective, similar to what you might find in CAD software. This mode is useful for precise placement and alignment of objects, especially when working on floorplans or overhead layouts where accurate spacing and alignment are important.
The Object Panel is the central hub for accessing and placing assets within your scene. It offers a categorized and highly customizable library of objects tailored to suit any client's needs.
Categorized for Clarity
Objects are organized into intuitive categories (e.g., furniture, barriers, signage, vehicles, staging, etc.), making it easy to browse and locate the right items for your project.
Client-Customizable Content
The panel supports a wide variety of assets, and its contents can be fully customized to match specific client requirements. Whether you're designing for events, construction layouts, traffic management, or public spaces, the panel can adapt to include only the relevant objects for your workflow.
Drag and Drop Workflow
Users can simply drag items from the Object Panel directly into the 3D space, streamlining the layout process and allowing for quick prototyping and iteration.
Our Saving System designed to streamline your workflow and keep your designs organized.
Slot-Based Saving
Easily save multiple layouts using a slot system that allows you to name each one clearly—for example, "Main Event Setup" or "Traffic Plan v2". This makes it simple to switch between variations or phases of a project.
Quick Recall
Load saved layouts instantly to review, modify, or present different versions of a design without losing your place or progress.
Import from Others
Share and collaborate with ease—layouts created by other users can be imported directly into your project, making team collaboration and client feedback seamless.
By using the geographic coordinates of your real-world site, Napkin 3D dynamically simulates the sun’s position and movement throughout the day and across different seasons. This allows you to visualize natural lighting, shadows, and sun exposure as they would occur on-site.
Perfect for outdoor event planning, construction phasing, and spatial analysis, this feature helps ensure your layout decisions are informed by actual environmental conditions—boosting both realism and functionality in your designs.
With just a few clicks, users can measure the space between any two points—whether it’s between objects, across open areas, or along walkways. This is essential for ensuring accurate spacing, meeting regulations, and optimizing layout efficiency.
Whether you're planning seating arrangements, verifying clearance zones, or double-checking the dimensions of a construction layout, the Measurement Tool gives you the confidence that everything fits—exactly as intended.
This tool makes it easy to define a route and move objects smoothly along it. Paths can be adjusted for direction, spacing, and speed—perfect for visualizing dynamic layouts and understanding spatial relationships in motion.
Ideal for traffic planning, crowd flow analysis, and event logistics, this feature adds a layer of realism that turns static layouts into fully visualized scenarios.
With a single click, a transparent clearance box appears around objects, representing the necessary buffer zones for egress paths, accessibility, or regulatory compliance. This visual aid helps ensure walkways, exits, and high-traffic areas remain unobstructed and safely navigable.
Tally up every placed object in the scene—broken down by category or type—and calculates the total estimated cost based on predefined pricing data. This makes it easy to stay on budget, prepare quotes, or assess the scale of a setup without manual counting or spreadsheets. Export Excel sheets from the program.
